These filters feel sturdier than the pleated filters I have purchased at local Home Improvement Stores. I was having a problem with odors coming into my office because my A/C units are on the roof, and they have a fresh air intake. So, these provide good filtration from the pleated portion, and they have a carbon layer to stop odors. It is really helping freshen the air in my office! My only issue is carbon needs to be sealed in a plastic bag so it doesn't deplete while the filters are stored. These filters are shipped in box as a pack of 12, but they are not sealed in plastic. I am only using 4 filters per month, so I have to store 8 of them to use in the future. So, I bought Ziploc Big Bag, XXL Double Zipper Bag-3 ct to store them so the carbon will stay fresh. Four 20x25x1 fit perfectly inside each zipper bag to keep the carbon fresh.

Our AC filter has to be 24 x 24, which is hard to fine in retail stores. I have been using pleated filters for several years now, ( we live in a very rural area, dirt roads, a great deal of pollen, we have two inside dogs ). Husband and I suffer from sinus allergies and our youngest (who has left the nest in the last year) has asthma, making reducing pollens and dust mites a priority.Purchased these with some concern that they did not have a high enough MERV rating, but hopeful the carbon would reduce odors (musty smell of an older wood frame home and smoke smell from the required prescribed burns on our pine tree farm). They do, and by buying in bulk with amazon prime the cost per filter is less.
