It works and gets the job done as long as the solar panel receives direct sunlight. Not just daylight, direct sunlight. I recommend you look at your solar panel mounting location several times throughout the day to get an idea of just where you want to place it and how to best orient it. Installation was straight forward but there wasn't much in the way of mounting hardware.

I was excited to remove my electric fan and replace it with solar. Installation was fairly easy. As soon as I plugged it in I was thinking it was going to be awesome because the fan started zipping along. After a couple of days I noticed that the solar panel just doesn't generate enough power to keep the blades spinning very quickly all day. Yes, it has FULL sun all day, and the panel is South-facing. It just doesn't suck enough air out of my attic to do much good.

If you do your calculations right, and get the right fan, you'll see huge benefits in your summer cooling with attic fans. This one has the added benefit of solar power. But you may need two because its not super powerful, its not intended to be.
