This is a nicely value winch if you use it occasionally. The synthetic line is nicely package with chaffing protector at both ends of the line, near the motor mount and at the hook end. The fairlead is nicely finished so there should be minimal friction on the synthetic line. Mounting is easy with the Smittybilt winch mounting plate. The instructions are very clear. All electrical cabling are color coded and labeled. The remote winch controller is long enough to control from the driver seat. Others have mounted the solenoid box inside the hood for weather protection, useful if you live in rainy and snowy regions of the country.One issue I have is the motor run hot even on short pull. It will pull at the rated specs. The line speed is slow but adequate for my use. I use it to extracate myself from unanticipated offroad situation. If you constantly use your winch on your outings, consider getting a Warn, which costs a whole lot more.

The install was easy and well described in the instructions. The winch appears well built and operates as it should. The remote for the winch is long enough to operate from the drivers seat. The only con is the remote build is cheap! The release tab fell off the first time I hooked up the remote harness.

I've used the winch twice since installing it just before Easter. First time was to pull myself up and over the 10ft rock wall I got hung up on and the other to pull another Jeep off an obstacle he got stuck on. It was very evident that this is a strong pulling winch and worked pretty well for the most part. Both time using the winch however, the remote seemed to stop and upon closer inspection it appears that the connection at the winch is coming loose despite having what is supposed to be a locking connection. I'll have to watch again next time to see why it's coming unlocked and loose. That's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 but otherwise when it is running it's worked well!
