I purchased two of these NuTone XN80's to replace the annoying, loud and largely ineffective builder installed fans in my home. Installation was simple, it can be used for new construction or retrofit using the included parts. The worst part was getting the plate installed after inserting the wire through it - I ended up installing it first then feeding the wire through as I put the box in place.The fan is near silent, and moves plenty of air. Both of my bathrooms are approx. 40sqft/320cuft so it turns over the air 15 times per hour (industry recommendations for a bathroom are 8 times). Note, this fan will increase RPM's (and therefore noise levels) if the exhaust venting is obstructed. I found this out because the flapper got stuck almost completely closed on the first one I installed. It was extremely loud and I thought it was defective. I popped the motor from the second fan in it's place and it was quiet, then on close inspection I discovered the first fan's flapper had some insulation wedged in there, holding it closed. MY FAULT!I highly recommend this fan, would use it again with confidence if I had more bathrooms!
