I bought this humidifier February 2010. Since the spring, it was in constant use in the basement. It was quiet and smaller than my old one (which lasted about 6 years). I hooked up a hose for continuous use. It worked really well until last week (September 2010), when the compressor quit. It still registers the humidity, the fan blows and the motor gets hot. But no water is coming out. I tried to find out about warranty, but the "owner's manual" does not even list the company, much less give warranty information or how to contact them. A web search of "NewAir" only brought up places that sell them, not how to contact the company. So now I am stuck buying a second dehumidifier in less than a year.

By Just one man's opinion
Bought in April '10 - Nov '10 doesn't work. Can't locate the Manufacturer. Overpriced junk. Runs nice and quiet but that is all it does. I have a fedders that is loud that is in another home that has been working 24-7 for 4 years now that cost me $79 at Walmart. You would think the seller would do its research on a product before they sell. I'm hoping the seller will replace it or refund. Crossing my fingers.

By slinkywizard
I bought two of these units in February 2012 from Air & Water. I placed one unit upstairs and the other downstairs and connected them each via drain hose to a roughly 20 gallon sealed Rubbermaid bin.I have the humidistat on each unit set at 45%, which means that with the high humidity in Houston, TX, both units should run nonstop. Several Hygrometers in my house all show that indoor relative humidity exceeded 50% over 95% of the time during the test period I've had these units running. At first I was thrilled with how quiet and compact these units were. But then something wasn't adding up. I was emptying under 10 pints per day per unit vs. the 40 pints advertised, even though the units were running non-stop (which I verified) at an electricity cost of roughly $17 per month each unit.Air & Water's website claims that each unit will cover 2,500 square feet. If true, then 2 units should cover my 5,000 square foot house. But they don't. Not even close. I bought these units based on the advertised pints per day and square foot coverage, which if true, would make the units quite energy efficient. But when the unit produces under 10 pints vs. 40 advertised, that makes it extremely energy inefficient compared to other dehumidifiers. In summary......Pros:- Great price, especially after coupon codes and promotions from Air & Water- Compact- Super quiet at first (although has been making funny noises lately)Cons:- Produces less than 10 pints per day, vs. 40 claimed- Actual pints per kWh of electricity makes this unit less than 1/4 as energy efficient as advertised.- The water collection bucket in the unit is extremely small. A continuous drain hose connection is available, but the drain hose must be purchased separately. The instructions say to use a 9mm inside diameter drain hose, but this doesn't fit. What is needed is a 3/8" inside diameter hose.- Reviews on the Air & Water website for this product are fishy. Even the very best products offered on Amazon have their share of 1-star reviews. Where are the 1-star reviews for this unit on the Air & Water website? By way of comparison, at the time of this writing, 1/3 of the reviews at Amazon for this product are either 1 or 2 star.Consumer Reports does not rate this model. According to their testing, Frigidaire (FAD704DUD), Haier (DE65EKL), and Soleus (SGDEH702) models rated the highest. NewAir appears to be a store brand of Air & Water.
