I must tell you the story surrounding these 'stairs' because, you see, I determined to get these not for a warehouse but for a small residential home where my queen-sized loft bed resides. I love my loft bed and my husband married it when he married me. However, it came with a ladder which is of course fine....until you reach the age when you're Social Security age. My husband, just slightly my junior, had the unlikely AND unsafe desire to exit the bed and climb down the ladder from a frontwards position; a practice that stops my heart and breath in the mornings until I hear him patter across the floor safely.I have fallen from the ladder a couple times too with injuries that took a full 3 months to heal; slipped my feet between rungs and once the ladder fell and I had to do acrobatics in order to retrieve it......yet another risky business.So, last year I began my search for steps, ACTUAL stair steps to replace this methodology for climbing into and out of bed more safely because, you see, I have no intentions of dismantling my bed!I looked at and even purchased steps meant for a swimming pool which didn't work since they were little more than a ladder, I looked at scissor steps, I considered and even talked with a contractor to make step/stairs and I even drew up blue prints, I looked at RV steps, stage steps, other utility steps and the list went on and on.When I saw these with railings, non slip strips and with enough steps to reach where the top ladder step was, I started measuring. I looked at other sites as well and finally, FINALLY selected this one in gray and pressed the 'purchase' button.I had expected the step/stairs to arrive un-assembled so my plan was to take the pieces upstairs and assemble it right there. It arrived swiftly (within just a few days of my order) and I was SO excited. It arrived, not in a box or un-assembled, but in one giant piece and there it was, sitting on the little sidewalk leading up to our house. I was....aghast! How was I going to get this in...it was HUGE!Fortunately I had purchased (also from Amazon) some time ago a ramp so I assembled that and easily got my stairs inside. I wasn't strong enough to pick it up around the stairs from the first to second floor though so my surprise for my husband was no surprise since he had to assist when he got home from work.Suffice it to say, our stairway to our loft heaven is finally 'attached' to the bed (we got a bit more creative) and my husband can walk upwards in the correct direction AND exit as well in the same direction and my heart can beat now instead of dashing to my mouth in the morning!I might eventually decorate it!
