A big opening like this is hard to find in a attic ladder, but the bottom of the door is too cheap and practially falls apart. Plus the ladder is hard to bring get off, but it is very sturdy when you go up and down it.

I have installed and used many attic ladders in my homes over the years and Louisville has made the list more often than not. I do detailed research on everything I buy online. You can get fancier and stronger but be prepared to spend double or triple the cost of a Louisville ladder. The L305P was easy to install, though heavy due to its size. It took multiple cuts on the legs to get them to the right length. Have a straight edge at least 6 to 8 feet long to align the stairs as you cut the legs in every shorter cuts. The hinges were very sticky so you will need to lubricate them with WD40 or light oil. The treads are not as deep as I'd like to see even though they are about six inches wide, wider than other attic ladders. I have used the ladder now for a month and am very pleased with the purchase.

I'll start by saying we're on our third attempt at this ladder. Other reviews from these various ladders (all sizes) have mentioned the problem with shipping. The first ladder came with GAPING holes in the top, sides, and bottom. I wish I had taken a picture of the STAPLES and LOOSE PARTS sitting on the porch by the box. Like other reviewers said, the ladder itself was of high quality and you cannot get these particular large sized ladders from Home Depot or Lowes (at least ours) so don't let that deter you from these products. There is no padding for the ladder in the box and I don't know where these things have been, but they look like they've been through something scary. Needless to say, parts were missing and the ladder went back. I had to take the box to UPS, which I never should have agreed to. Amazon, as always, was great. Ladder number two, the replacement, was delivered and it was damaged this time. The piano hinge was bent so badly it rendered the ladder useless. A chunk of the wood was also smashed and damaged. The box was covered in tape and I am 100% sure it was dropped along the way from Mexico to wherever to me, hence the damage of the ladder. Since the ladder IS of great quality, we decided to try one last time. Received the third one and installed. We added a few minor mods to get it to fit just right, and it is working great. Steps are sturdy. Hinges operate smoothly. Ladder folds up smoothly.I just want people to know that if you're rushing, buy something else, or be prepared to possibly deal with returns/exchanges. These are still sturdy, high quality ladders, you just have to make it past the shipping part.
